2 short verses by an aspiring poet – inspired by this ink painting
In prose…..
26 little fish on a plain, brown sheet of paper. Their imaginary pond only slightly larger than a dinner plate. Yet they seem so lively, so happy and on an infinite journey not bound by physical limitations.
How is it possible to depict such reality, such liveliness and so much motion in a still life work of art, using only 3 basic colors of ink and the most drab of colors, brown, as the imaginary water they swim in?
How is it possible to add such uniqueness to each fish, both in apperance and seeming personalities?
How is it possible to introduce such elegant leader-follower structure for the group, whilst still infusing strong member to member interaction?
Such a simple work. So many questions.
In poetry…..
26 fish
Oh how i wish
Some day when the skies are grey
For you to splash and say: Hey!
Head up! look ahead!
The endless horizon awaits…
Epilogue…..
How does one know when a work of art is done and complete as intended? Does the work finish when the tool of creation is put down, or when a title is assigned?
How does a painter know when to put down the brush? How does a poet know when to sign their name below the last verse? When does a perfect golf shot end? When the club makes contact with the ball? Or when that same little ball lands close to the hole?
How did the forces that created our world know that the sky they created was already blue enough to be more beautiful than anything anyone can imagine?
How? When? Why? What is the meaning of “enough”? What is the meaning of “complete”? What is the meaning of “perfect”?
